Job Description:
This position evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Develop treatment plans with involvement
family/support systems to meet the individual’s functional goals. He/She provides direct supervision of support personal as related to patient care.
Responsibilities:
- A. Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.
- B. Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.
- C. Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.
- D. Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.
- E. Assists in maintaining the department and equipment in a clean and orderly manner in accordance with department policy regarding infection control and preventive maintenance.
- F. Attends and participates in department in-services and meetings.
- G. Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources
- H. Is actively involved in planning and promoting department growth and program development
- I. Assists in cost containment through efficient use of work time and supplies. Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies. Ensures charges are appropriate based on services provided adhering to productivity guidelines
- J. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.
- K. Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne North Iowa Medical Centerand the Sisters of Mercy reflecting the organization’s Mission, Values, and Guiding Behaviors.
- L. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
- M. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy and values of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy.
- N. Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head.
Education/ Experience:
- Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.
- Must have minimum 1+ years of recent acute care experience as a PT
Certifications:
- Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.
- Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.
- Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines
- Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
- Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
- Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
- Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Other Mandatory Requirements:
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
