Location: Syracuse, NY (contracts 75+ mile radius considered)





Shift: 6 hours per week, 3x12N 1900-0730, 11 Weeks contract






Every other Weekend Every other Holiday No On Call requirements. Possible Floating to support staffing within Med/Surg

Job Description:





Telemetry Nurses, are nurses who specialize in reviewing and interpreting data measured by sophisticated medical equipment. They provide care for critically ill patients, monitor the condition of patients in telemetry units, and administer medication. They also advise patients and their families on post-hospital care. Key responsibilities include:






  1. Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Studying patients' medical history, test results, and treatment plans.




    • Tracking routine heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements.




    • Monitoring, interpreting, and recording data from specialized medical technologies and equipment.




    • Administering medication and performing treatment interventions in consultation with healthcare specialists.




    • Maintaining and updating ward charts, patient files, and medical records.




    • Instructing Telemetry Unit staff on patient care and treatment plans.




    • Collaborating with healthcare specialists and reporting changes and deteriorating conditions.




    • Explaining tests results and procedures to patients and their families, as well as answering questions.




    • Advising patients on post-hospital care, including prescribed medicine, home care protocols, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.




    • Other assignments as needed






  2. Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.




    • Must have 2+ years of recent Med/surg Telemetry experience. At least 1 year prior travel experience required. Possible Floating to support staffing within Med/Surg






  3. Certifications:

    • New York State RN License required 




    • Current BLS Certification required.




    • Current ACLS Certification required.




    • EHR-EPIC ONLY






  4. Other requirements:

    • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19







This position requires a compassionate, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. You will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and a valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license. Prior experience in a ICU setting and additional certifications in ICU nursing are highly desirable.
