6 North is a unique floor whose primary focus is neurological patients. Our type of patients consist of stroke, seizure, neurosurgery, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. Our team is enthusiastic about our patients and the care that is provided.





Job Description:





As a Step down Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing meticulous care for patients transitioning out of ICU units who need close monitoring. Your duties will encompass a broad spectrum of tasks to ensure high-quality patient care, safety, and satisfaction. Our primary focus is neurological patients. Our type of patients consist of stroke, seizure, neurosurgery, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. Our team is enthusiastic about our patients and the care that is provided. Key responsibilities include:






  1. Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Checking patients' health status daily and making note of any changes or concerns




    • Caring for multiple patients throughout the same shift, often varying in age and condition




    • Monitoring patients with life-saving medical equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators




    • Responding to "code blue" alerts and other urgent situations




    • Providing a comfortable and secure environment for the patient




    • Other assignments as needed






  2. Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.




    • Must have 1+ years of recent RN Step down/DOU experience. 






  3. Certifications:

    • Current and Valid State RN License required.




    • BLS and ACLS Certification required.




    • NIHSS Certification is required






  4. Other requirements:

    • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19







This position requires a compassionate, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and critical thinking skills. You will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and a valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license. Prior experience in an acute health care setting and additional certifications are highly desirable.
